Helping you find a way forward
Are you looking for someone to talk to in confidence to explore or share your situation? My name’s David and I’m an experienced Person-Centred counsellor and psychotherapist.
My aim is to provide a safe place and relationship for you to talk without the fear of judgement or rejection.
In this environment we can explore your issues and concerns to help you gain insight, understanding and a way forward.
Why Counselling or Psychotherapy?
Sometimes we have situations, experiences, emotions or problems we want to talk about and we feel there is no-one we can trust or turn to. The counselling relationship provides a safe and confidential environment where you can explore whatever is concerning you.
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy? Counselling generally refers to shorter term work, and psychotherapy to longer, more in depth work, I am able to offer both.
For more information about counselling and psychotherapy see the BACP website.
I am calm, accepting and understanding; I will really hear and see you as an individual as I believe that each person and situation is unique. I will work together with you to explore whatever is concerning you, helping you to discover inner resources to do what’s right for you.
Facing my own life challenges has led me to having an insight and empathy towards others who are facing their own situations, whatever they may be.
I have experience of working with a wide range of people and issues in a variety of settings within Social Services and the Voluntary Sector. This includes working one to one, in groups, with young people and adults. I worked in an overseas community setting for several years which gave me insight into different cultural perspectives.
Within my practice I have helped people with many issues including – relationships, anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement, trauma, mental health issues, addiction, low self-esteem and feeling low or stuck – amongst others. I also have specific experience with chronic health conditions.
I’m an insured and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ‘ethical framework’ and participate in regular supervision and ongoing training. I also have Enhanced DBS clearance.
